Norfolk’s Waterfront Joins the Future of Dinghy Foiling
FOILFAST and USFoil are excited to announce that Norfolk Yacht & Country Club has officially joined the growing North American network of WASZP HUBs for the 2026 season.
Located on the protected waters of the Lafayette River in the heart of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Yacht & Country Club brings a long tradition of competitive sailing, outstanding waterfront facilities, and a passionate sailing community to the rapidly expanding Dinghy Foiling movement. The addition of Norfolk continues the momentum behind the HUB model as USFoil works to create sustainable local fleets, develop coaching resources, and provide efficient access to foiling for sailors of all ages.
The HUB system is designed to help yacht clubs and sailing centers create long term foiling activity through a combination of coaching support, athlete development pathways, charter opportunities, equipment access, and direct integration with the North American WASZP Class racing calendar. Rather than simply introducing sailors to foiling, HUBs are intended to create complete local ecosystems that support sailors from their first experience all the way to national and international competition.

For sailors at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, becoming a HUB creates immediate access to a much larger development network. Local athletes will now have direct connections to USFoil coaching resources, regional training opportunities, the WASZP Youth Development Team, North American Race Team initiatives, and major championship events throughout the United States and Canada. Sailors and families will also benefit from the growing HUB collaboration model, which helps connect programs with charter boats, shared coaching resources, travel support, and visiting training opportunities from elite coaches and athletes.

The HUB model is specifically designed to reduce the barriers that have historically made high performance sailing difficult for many families and clubs. By building strong local fleets supported by shared coaching and equipment resources, USFoil and the WASZP Class are creating a pathway that is modern, competitive, and sustainable for sailors of all ages.
“We are excited to become part of the USFoil HUB network and continue expanding opportunities for sailors at our Club,” said Duffy Danish, Sailing Director at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club. “The WASZP provides an exciting and modern pathway for athletes looking to challenge themselves while still participating in true one design fleet racing. We believe this partnership will create tremendous opportunities for our sailors and coaches.”
Flor Cerutti, Head Coach & Assistant Sailing Director at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, believes the coaching and development opportunities created by the HUB system are equally important.
“One of the most exciting parts of the HUB model is the ability to connect local sailors and coaches to a larger community,” said Cerutti. “The support structure around coaching, training, and athlete progression makes it possible to build something sustainable and welcoming for sailors who want to learn foiling.”

USFoil Program Director Agustin Ferrario emphasized that the long term success of Dinghy Foiling in North America will come from strong local programs led by great coaches.
“The future of foiling depends on developing local communities and investing in coaching,” said Ferrario. “Norfolk Yacht & Country Club has the facilities, sailing culture, and leadership to become a tremendous HUB for the region. Our goal is not simply to create elite sailors, but to create lifelong sailors through strong local fleets and great coaching.”
The addition of Norfolk Yacht & Country Club continues the rapid expansion of the HUB network as more clubs recognize the importance of creating exciting and affordable pathways that keep sailors engaged after traditional junior programs. With modern equipment, structured coaching support, and a connected racing calendar, the WASZP and USFoil ecosystem is quickly becoming one of the most active Dinghy Foiling development pathways in the world.
Sailors and families interested in learning more about the new HUB opportunities at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club are encouraged to contact the Club directly for information on local programming, clinics, and future WASZP activity.
