Build a dinghy foiling program around a system that already works

Become a HUB
the future is now.

A USFoil HUB connects a local organization to Endorsed Coaches, a common curriculum, sailor certification through the USFoil Tracker, ongoing program support, and a national network of programs working from the same development framework. A club does not have to invent a foiling program from scratch — it plugs into one.

01WHY THE HUB MODEL WORKS

Boats are only one piece.
The hard part is building a program.

Buying boats is a single decision. Building a sustainable foiling program is a different problem entirely — one that depends on coaches, curriculum, progression, recurring activity, and institutional knowledge that survives staff turnover. The USFoil HUB model provides that structure.

A new coach can step into an established system. Sailors can work with different Endorsed Coaches without starting over. Program directors have a stable reference for what should be taught. Certifications create visible milestones. And USFoil remains involved as the program develops — not just at launch.

02COACH ENDORSEMENT COMES FIRST

Build the coaches first.
Strong coaches create strong programs.

USFoil develops coaches first because capable, aligned coaches create certified sailors and durable programs. Through the USFoil Dinghy Foiling Coach Endorsement pathway, coaches learn a common curriculum, shared terminology, and a consistent development philosophy.

The strongest HUBs ultimately develop multiple Endorsed Coaches, so the program does not depend on a single individual. An Endorsed Coach is not an employee, agent, or representative of USFoil — they are a coach who has met a national development standard.

03CURRICULUM AND STRUCTURE

A structure programs
do not have to invent.

USFoil gives HUBs a common dinghy foiling curriculum and development framework. Coaches retain the flexibility to adapt to local conditions and sailors, but they are not inventing the program session by session. A sailor who trains at one HUB and attends a clinic elsewhere recognizes the structure.

This creates continuity between coaches, seasons, and locations — and it dramatically shortens the learning curve for clubs entering foiling. A club can develop or hire another Endorsed Coach without rebuilding the program around a single person.

04SAILOR CERTIFICATION AND THE TRACKER

Progress, verified
by eligible coaches.

The USFoil Tracker connects the system. Eligible Endorsed Coaches verify sailor progression through the USFoil Dinghy Foiling Certification pathway, with every skill formally signed off. Sailors receive recognizable milestones and a record that can follow them between coaches, clinics, and programs.

Certification is the output of a strong coaching and curriculum system — not the product by itself. It is a structured record of demonstrated progress within USFoil standards, not a license or a guarantee.

05ONGOING PROGRAM SUPPORT

USFoil stays engaged
after launch.

This is what separates a HUB from a one-time clinic. USFoil stays engaged with program leaders and coaches — around coach development, activity levels, curriculum use, certification, clinics and events, challenges, and what is working elsewhere in the network.

The goal is not simply to launch more programs. It is to keep them active and help them get stronger from one season to the next. USFoil reviews program development, shares what works across the network, and helps programs solve problems as they arise.

THE STAGED PATHWAY

Start with a clinic.
Build at your
own pace.

The HUB pathway is staged and low-risk. A club can see where it fits today and what the next step looks like — without committing to everything at once.

Start a HUB Conversation
01

Clinic and Program Introduction

Introduce sailors, local coaches, and program leaders to dinghy foiling. Evaluate interest, venue suitability, staffing, and what a permanent program could look like. A USFoil clinic is the low-risk way to see whether foiling fits your community before committing to a program.

02

Develop the Coaches

Local coaches enter the USFoil Dinghy Foiling Coach Endorsement pathway and begin learning the common curriculum, the USFoil Tracker, and the development framework. Coach development is the foundation everything else is built on.

03

Become a USFoil HUB

The organization begins recurring local programming around the USFoil framework. Endorsed Coaches develop and certify sailors, and USFoil begins an ongoing program-support relationship. HUB status is an active relationship — not a logo or a one-time designation.

04

Build a Sustainable Program

Develop additional Endorsed Coaches, recurring activity, sailor certifications, clinics, local racing, and the institutional knowledge that survives staff changes. The goal is a program that continues to grow regardless of who is currently at the helm.

05

Expand the Experience

Grow into larger clinics, adult or Masters programming, scholastic participation, local racing, regional events, and other opportunities appropriate to the local community. A mature HUB becomes a center of activity for foiling in its region.

WHAT HUBS GAIN

A complete operating system for dinghy foiling.

The core value is people, structure, and support — not equipment.

Better Coaches

Access to the USFoil Dinghy Foiling Coach Endorsement pathway and a national community of coaches working from common standards, shared terminology, and a consistent development philosophy.

Common Curriculum

A repeatable dinghy foiling curriculum and development framework your club builds around instead of inventing session by session — creating continuity between coaches, seasons, and locations.

Recognizable Progression

USFoil Sailor Certification through the Tracker gives sailors, parents, and programs a shared, portable reference for where a sailor stands and what comes next.

Certification and Endorsement Included

The monthly USFoil HUB program fee includes Sailor Certification and Coach Endorsement fees for the HUB’s affiliated sailors and coaches. They pay no additional per-level certification or endorsement fees.

Ongoing Program Support

USFoil stays engaged — reviewing program development, sharing what works across the network, and helping programs solve problems and stay active from one season to the next.

National Network

Connection to HUBs, coaches, and sailors across the country, with shared standards and a common language for foiling development.

Developing Event Standards

Access to developing USFoil standards for clinics, events, and race management that respect the sailor experience and raise the whole network.

HUB PROGRAM FEE

$135 per HUB per month

The HUB organization pays a monthly USFoil program fee of $135. This includes USFoil Sailor Certification and Dinghy Foiling Coach Endorsement fees for the HUB’s affiliated sailors and coaches. They pay no additional per-level certification or endorsement fees.

All certification and endorsement requirements still apply.

06FLEET AND EQUIPMENT

Clubs build local fleets.
FOILFAST supports the rest.

Clubs and programs generally build and own fleets sized around their local programming. FOILFAST separately supports access to WASZP boats, used boats, parts, service, technical support, charters, and other equipment needs. USFoil focuses on the coaching, curriculum, certification, and program support around the fleet — not the fleet itself.

07A HIGHER STANDARD FOR EVENTS

When sailors see USFoil,
they know the standard.

USFoil is developing a recognizable standard for clinics, regattas, and race-management support — built around organization, communication, safety, technology, and the sailor experience. The long-term goal is simple: when sailors see USFoil attached to an event, they know what level of experience to expect.

08WHO CAN BECOME A HUB

Any credible organization
running recurring foiling activity.

HUBs can be yacht clubs, community sailing organizations, schools, sailing centers, or other credible organizations able to run recurring dinghy foiling activity. They do not need elite sailors or an established foiling program before starting.

Good candidates generally have a program leader, coaches willing to engage with the Endorsement pathway, a venue appropriate for safe foiling, access to suitable equipment as the program develops, and a commitment to regular local activity.

READINESS QUESTIONS

Common questions
before you start.

Do we need to own boats before we start?

No. Many HUBs begin with an introductory clinic before building a local fleet. Clubs and programs generally build and own fleets sized around their local programming as it develops. FOILFAST separately supports access to WASZP boats, used boats, parts, service, technical support, charters, and other equipment needs. USFoil focuses on the coaching, curriculum, certification, and program support around the fleet — not the fleet itself.

Do we need an experienced foiling coach?

No. Many HUBs begin by sending a coach into the USFoil Dinghy Foiling Coach Endorsement pathway as part of Stage 2. USFoil helps local coaches learn the common curriculum, the Tracker, and the development framework. The strongest HUBs ultimately develop multiple Endorsed Coaches so the program does not depend on one individual.

How is a HUB different from a one-time clinic?

A clinic introduces foiling and evaluates demand. A HUB is an ongoing relationship built around recurring local programming, coach development, sailor certification, and continued support. HUB status means a program is actively developing sailors to a national standard — not simply hosting a single event.

Can a small or community program become a HUB?

Yes. USFoil is not elite-only. Local participation, recreational sailors, adults, Masters, juniors, and school sailors can all fit inside a strong HUB program. The pathway is staged so a club can start small and build at its own pace.

Do HUB sailors or coaches pay separately for certification and endorsement?

USFoil HUBs pay a program fee of $135 per month. Sailor Certification and Dinghy Foiling Coach Endorsement fees are included for the HUB’s affiliated sailors and coaches, who pay no additional per-level certification or endorsement fees.

Sailors and coaches outside a HUB pay the fees published on our Sailor Certification and Coach Endorsement pages. All certification and endorsement requirements still apply.

Can adults and Masters participate?

Yes. HUBs are not limited to junior sailors. Adult and Masters programming fits naturally within a HUB, and the staged pathway lets a club build the mix of activity that suits its community.

How do High School and College sailing and WASZP racing fit in?

The WASZP Class manages Class racing, High School and College competition, and Race Teams. USFoil develops the coaches, sailors, and local programs beneath that competitive pathway, so sailors are ready to enter it when they choose. HUBs can reference those opportunities as part of the broader ecosystem, but they are not organizational stages of becoming a HUB.

What does USFoil expect from a HUB each year?

A HUB is an active relationship, not a one-time designation. USFoil expects recurring local activity, coaches engaging with the Endorsement pathway, use of the common curriculum and Tracker, and ongoing communication about program development. The goal is a program that stays active and improves from one season to the next.

START WHERE YOU ARE

You do not need to have the program figured out before you call us.

Some organizations begin with an introductory clinic. Others already have boats and sailors and need coaching structure. Established programs may be ready to join the HUB network immediately. Wherever you are, there is a clear next step.
